Hi,

I am an Indian citizen currently staying in US. Recently my passport and i94 got damaged.
My issue is that I don't have a state id or drivers id. So right now, I do not have any kind of photo id proof.( except of course the copies )

For my passport Indian consulate website say it needs notarized copy of i94 ( which I cannot produce).Does this mean I have to apply for i94 first and only once I get it can I apply for my new passport ?. Because I have to take a trip to India soon and might also have to relocate in US. So I would want my passport available with me ASAP.

please let me know If anyone has faced similar situation.

It would be greatly appreciated if you can post some tips about how to proceed on this.

you need to apply for form
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=e5d95d4c6608e010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCR D&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1 RCRD (I102)

, once you receive the notice of action. than you can you that as proof.
Also any current bill on your name and address works .
i would recommend to take all documents and apply in person .

I have applied for i94 and will wait for couple of days for acknowledgement. But my main issue is I am staying in a hotel since over 2 months now. There fore I don't have any rent agreement or utility bill .

I tried to contact embassy but they said, It is a required document.

If I apply in person, will they tell me immediately if the processing is approved or denied ?. I can understand getting passport back may take time. But I don't me to not have passport and change my travel plans only for consulate to reject my application
