Bulgarian with a tourist visa

I am thinking of staying in the states and intend to work/study.

Would you advise me if this is possible?

I got a tourist visa, plus SSN from my previous Work&Travel program, but which is valid only with an INS work permit.

Would appreciate any meaningful comments/advices.

This is not advisable. You need to join IT consulting company and then try to come back on H-1B. If you stay, you'll be caught and deported back to Africa. Then they will ban you and there will be no more work&study and fooling around.

Hey Bulgarian: There are several ways to do it. But, in most cases you will have to go out of the country and come back in with a valid F1/H1/other visa stamping. In my opinion, given the job market now, it is easier to take the F1 route. Take appropriate tests (SAT, LSAT, GRE, GMAT), apply to universities, get admitted. Get the I20. Go back to Bulgaria. Get F1 stamp and come back in.

Or marry a US citizen and get a GreenCard.
