I saw this article about eliminating the diversity visa program and using those numbers for EB categories.

Link to Article (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.3687:)

Will this do us any good?

Thanks

I doubt that it will go anywhere but if does it would be really good for us.

I will say this time and again. It's a piece of plastic card and until USCIS realises that we are stuck here.

It's beyond belief that they cannot process all applications by labor date filed. That would easily eliminate all the waiting for Eb-3 India

Again Eb-3 India is a minscule amount compared to any category, everyone including Eb-2 India get it in an average 5 years time. Until unless we have some practical solutions from law-makers nothing is going to happen.

If we have EAD and AP I think thats like a temporary GC and we should just enjoy whatever we want to do.Atleast these guys can give us a single document for EAD and AP for maybe 2 years.

Dude I agree that we need Visa recapture but and additional 50K visas a year for EB will go a long way as well....

In current situation any increase in EB visas will help...

Obviously this bill will definitely help the EB back log -- this bill should be supported whole-heartedly.

While we wait for a more comprehensive bill with visa re-capture, eliminating per country quotas etc etc, this bill will definitely help to reduce the EB back log. I wonder whether IV is raising funds to lobby for this bill or what is IV's position on this bill?

This bill should be supported by all EB categories. 50,000 visas per year is significant.

Trust me.. Unless CIR passes or fails nothing is going to change. These introductions are base less. Its like just a thought. Even all of 500k professionals who might be stuck at various stages of GC process unite and call to pass it . It will not pass. Period.

Hispanic caucus will not allow any piecemeal approach for immigration. They are holding EB reform for illegals. So lets hope that CIR gets introduce and pass with our relief. If CIR passes then it will have recapture. If it fails then we can try for recapture or any of these without worry for hispanic caucus. So I dont think so IV or even any organization like IV can do anything for next 6 months where CIR may get a chance. All we can do is call congress man and ask for support when CIR discussion comes on floor.

We may achieve some admin fixes if current administration really wants to help us.

I completely disagree with what gc_on_demand is saying.
Even as recently as this week, Congress has passed some immigration provisions that has been added to other major bills and Obama has signed them into law. I do not believe that Hispanic Caucus is simply blocking every immigration legislation until CIR- that's just BS.

Based on the statistics published by USCIS,
MurthyDotCom : USCIS Shares Useful Info in Pending I-485 Charts (http://www.murthy.com/news/n_pndchr.html)

http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/New%20Structure/3rd%20Level%20(Left%20Nav%20Children)/Green%20Card%20-%203rd%20Level/Pending%20Form%20I485%20Reports.pdf

I think passing this bill help will definitely help the EB2 category which would consequently make more visa numbers available for EB3 category.
I believe that IV should start a dedicated fund raising movement for lobbying efforts to help pass this bill.

I completely agree with what gc_on_demand said. The recent immigration provisions that zuhail is referring to is merely an extension of the sunsetting EB4 and EB5 programs. They HAD to renew it since otherwise the applications in process would be in limbo.

Unless CIR is introduced, no other EB relief is going to happen on the legislative side. If CIR passes, we will have increased visas to clear the backlog - since without first clearing the "legal" backlog, they wouldn't dare issue a single GC to illegals. If not, then recapture stands a definite chance since the Hispanic lobby would then be more open to a "piecemeal" approach. My 2 cents.

Plus focusing our efforts on these other bills would dilute our attention to CIR - the big one!
