Hi there,
I am consultant and move to different parts of the country frequently. Is there any Medical Insurance with which we can have the flexibility to see the doctors in different places?I don't want to change the Insurance every time I move from one place to another.I want to buy Individual Insurance and do not want to depend on the employer.

Thanks In Advance for your advices/suggestions/inputs

I suggest go with a PPO from one of the big insurance providers (Blue Cross, Humana, Etna etc). Their network cover most states.

Group insurance (the ones offered through an employer) has many benefits over individual insurance since the risk is effectively pooled over many people. I would look really hard to see if I can avoid individual insurance.

If you are in the mood to research why - read up on Death Spiral (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_spiral_(insurance)). Death spiral is usually much more serious of an issue if you are covered under an individual plan.

In case one of either you or your dependents become seriously ill - the insurance company can effectively deny coverage to you in case of an individual coverage. Federal law (as it stands now) bars them from denying coverage outright - but nothing bars them from asking for $10,000/month as insurance premium - effectively denying coverage.
