Let's see who our friends are:
1. Politicians (Democrats, Republicans and Others): They will go where their vote bank is. Do we have voting tights? No. Then why would they listen to us?
2. Indian friends of Indian Caucus: They look down upon us because we came via the easy route. They had to slog years to get their PhDs and finally settle here. We came here just after graduation. So no sympathy there.
3. Hispanic Caucus: Are we totally out of our minds? What do we have in common?
4. Corporations: Remember the golden egg laying hen? As long as we're on temp visas, they can milk us to death. As soon as we go green, they loose their bargain power. So more temp visa and not so much green is on their agenda.
5. Immigration Lawyers: Sympathetic to our cause because that will bring business to them. If you have some business sense and have to choose between 14 million illegals versus 500k legals, who would you choose?
6. We: Really? Last time I heard there was no "we". EB2 versus EB3, India versus ROW, persons of a particular state versus rest of India is what defines the fragmented "we".
God help US !!

Your common sense is your only friend but most people do not consider it and go by what others have to say . Use it to determine if it is feasible to stay in temporary suspension for decades or "settle" permanently in your home country .

Very true....other than EB3/2 India/China rest of the categories are far better off.
Regarding the 4. Corporation use H1B/L1B because H1B/L1B allow themselves to
be used. There was a time in the 90s when EB2/3 - China used to have maximum backlog. Over a period of time EB2/3 - China chose not to put up with it and thus
EB2/3 - China didnt increase as much as EB2/3 - India.
