We filed our I-485 during the July 07 fiasco and we had our interview today at USCIS office in Newark. Below is our experience and hoping it will help others in preparing for this.

We took with us the below documents:
Passports
Current I-94's
All H1 and H4 approvals
I-140 approval
EAD cards and Advance Parole papers
2009 pay stubs
2007 and 2008 W2 and tax returns
Original birth certificates
Marriage certificate
Employment letter
Employer Federal income tax record

It was scheduled for 8:00 AM and we were in front of the building by 7:15. Found parking at the garage diagonally opposite to the building. We had to wait in bitter cold outside till they opened the doors at 7:30. After detailed security check we were directed to the 13th floor. It wasn’t that crowded during that time of day and we were called in at around 8:05.

• He asked me and my wife to raise our hands and take oath.
• He then made us sit and asked for ID’s and we gave him our passports.
• He then asked for current I-94 / H1 papers and made copies of it
• Asked when was our last entry into US
• Asked us for our current address and he corrected it in the application. Guess they had old address even though we did fill out AR11 after changing.
• Asked for both of our birth certificates and marriage certificate
• He then saw one of our kids who was with us and asked for her birth certificate. We gave her and our other daughters certificate as well. Both born in US. Since they were never provided he said he will be making copies of it.
• Asked if I was still working in same company that applied for my GC. He then asked for proof. I gave him 2009 pay stubs. Looked at all the 12 stubs and commented he too was getting paid once a month in his previous job and it was hard to manage for full month.
• He then mentioned my application was through and he was going to apply for a visa number for it but cannot approve the case since the dates weren’t current. My PD is Nov 05 EB2 India.
• For my wife he mentioned they do not have proper medical records and that is holding him from approving her case. He asked her to go through the medical again and submit the sealed report in next 30 days.

The whole interview lasted about 15 minutes and it was very pleasant. I now just hope the dates move fast.

My best wishes to you all!!

How did you get interview call when your date was not current? Are people called randomly for interview?

Possibly because they are preadjudicating people now. I believe most if not all of 05 should have already been interviewed by now.

Even i've mine this month end (pd mar 05). They do call for interview even if dates not current, you could check other forums too, many such cases.
