microsoft publisher 2010 download company is holding an online meeting on May 4 on the main topic of microsoft publisher 2010! I’m wondering whether there can be an insurance policy item on the company’s decision to you should stop its NNTP newsgroups!
NNTP newsgroups have been publisher 2010’s primary public support discussion boards for its products and technologies for over a decade! I heard recently from a couple of my sources about Microsoft’s intent to get users weaned from those public newsgroups and onto Microsof company discussion boards, like Microsof company Answers, TechNet and MSDN instead!
Microsof company has told some of its community members that the existing newsgroup platform (NNTP) is running on an outdated version of Microsof company Exchange that is past its end-of-life support date, making spam, troll-management and synchronization difficult! Company officials are playing in the new Web-based forums’ capacity to provide centralized searchable content and to highlight the contributions of designated experts!
Word is Microsof company is refining their plans phased approach, first eliminating newsgroups with less traffic, according to my sources! Microsof company provides users with dedicated NNTP readers with a bridge client to help ease the move!
Update: Microsof company confirmed the NNTP newsgroup news a period of time after i posted this entry! Here’s the statement from a spokesperson:
“On August 1, Microsof company will be progressively closing newsgroups and helping active newsgroups users migrate their discussions to the rested Microsof company discussion boards that is included in Microsof company Answers, TechNet and MSDN! This decision was made so that you can give you the best community and support resources and experience to your customers with social features and benefits that address their feedback and needs! ”
I’m also wondering whether Microsof company uses today’s online community meeting to share with you more information about the company’s TechSupport Marketplace — a complement to the Microsof company Answers forum that Microsof company began testing late last year! TechSupport Marketplace is an online tech-support forum which will be staffed by paid “independent experts! ”
I see Microsoft’s move away from NNTP established more proof of the growing social-networking emphasis across the company! Anyone going to miss the old discussion boards (besides trolls and spammers)?
