GC-Initiation

I am in my 5th year of H1. It will expire in 2010 October.

Can my company initiate GC process in 6th year?
What is the difference between initiating in 5th and 6th years.

How do H1 extensions vary from 5th to 6th years.

It is believed that the vaction time that you spent outside USA, can also be used as extension. Is this true?

Please answer to my queries and also post any suggestions specific to my case.
