Immigration Voice

Hi all

I hold a US Greencard issued in 2002 and now i m travelling to INDIA from US via London heathrow and have a one day stop over should i take a transit visa to go out if so can i directly get in the airport or should apply before.

I would appreciate if anyone could help me out.
