Default Lawyer Recomendation for dealing with AC21 Portability after 180 days of 485 filing

Hello,

My best friend is close to being at the 180 day mark and is looking for a lawyer in the DC area to talk to about changing jobs after 180 days and submitting appropriate paperwork. Can anyone recommend a lawyer for that? Also, do you know how much she should expect to pay for that?

Thanks.

What paperwork are you talking about? There is no application or form required to use AC21.

Yes, there is nothing to do. Just use your EAD and move on. I don't think you even have to tell USCIS about it. Read guidlines for this, here:

No lawyer or paperwork is needed for AC21. Just the regulations for similar kind of job etc. needs to be followed. There is no need to update INS.

What do you want the lawyer to do? You have EAD, you can start your business or work for whoever you want. AC21 comes into play after 180 days of AOS pending, meaning that you are no more obligated to work for sponsoring employer, nor does the employer has obligation to employ you. If you get GC within 180 days, technically should work for the sponsoring employer.
