Default Can I get I140 copy without having receipt#

Dear Immigration Attorney,

I read many good news in this forum that one can obtain a copy of I140 even if she/he doesn't know the receipt#. Is this possible? If yes, could you please advise and share a sample letter(FOIA doc) that I can make especially when do not have a receipt notice #.
Please also advise on the other documents that I need with FOIA?

Please help...

Default did you have I-485 receipt number?

Do you know your I-485 receipt number? If yes, then request FOIA to get all the documents attached to your I-485 case number, then they will send you all the documents in your I-485 case file and I-140 document will be there in it. You might also need to enter your A# in FOIA request.

If you dont know your I-485 receipt number then I am not sure how to send FOIA request.

Default Enter whatever you can in the form

Dont waste time. Fill the FOIA form whatever you can only for "140 approval notice" (one page). They will use those info and send you the approval letter. It may take 1-3 months. At least you can give a shot. If you get it then resubmit FOIA with the A#. FYI- you can not fill two request same time. Once one is completed then you can send second one.

newyorker123,
this I 140 is applied by old employer but did not share the receipt# and no 485 was applied that time. I want to port the PD from that I140 to the current I140/I485. For that purpose, I need the copy of old I140.

ssingh92,
I just applied the FOIA and just crossed my fingers. Lets see how it goes...

Thanks for all your radvise and support!
