H1B to Green Card (through USC wife)

Hi,
I am on H1 (expiring in 2013), and filing I130+I485 for green card and AOS (my USC wife is the petitioner).

My questions:
1. Is there any risk of any sort in applying for I-765(EAD) and I-131(AP) as well?
Does that increase the chances of getting an RFE.
Will it impact my H1, in case my I-130 or I-765 gets rejected?
Since, I have a valid H1 till 2013, i would really not like to take any risk.

2. Even though I have a valid H1, my stamped visa expired in 2009, so it would help if i get AP. Should i apply only for I-131(AP) w/o I-765(EAD)?

3. What reasons should/can I mention in my letter (as part of I-131)?
