Default Fingerprint expiry

Hello
I filed I-485 in June 2007 and had the fingerprinting done in Oct 2007. I know that historically fingerprinting had a 15 month validity and it will have to be repeated if the 485 is not adjudicated within that period. I also read that the USCIS has changed the process and now and we don't need to do that again, but looks like some folks are getting notices to redo the fingerprinting process. Can someone please confirm.
thanks much

I am in the same boat. My fingerprinting was done in Oct 2007 and never heard again. Some people did get notices again as in every action that USCIS does. I think that people at USCIS just use their "own rules" , "principles" , "mood of the day" and "habits" to do the actions and worst is nobody to check all this. There is no consistency in whatever they do.

If you contact USCIS the standard answer they give is they will request for fingerprinting if required. Can you please give your PD?. It is quite likely that your application might have been pre-adjudicated and waiting for visa number allocation(if PD is was current at some point of time).

In due course whenever your PD gets current they will 'hopefully' check your file and based on the status of your FP request your FP again.

Alternatively you could try and write to the USCIS local office and see if a new FP is required to make your file updated based on your previous FP copies.

-cheers

Default FP automaticall gets submitted to FBI

If USCIS collected code-3 biometrics, then USCIS will re-use it to submit to FBI every 15 months until the green card is approved. I did code-3 bio within 2 weeks of I-485 application and my GC got approved after 2 years without me going for another FP appointment. This was with TSC.

My priority date is Jan 2004 (EB20 and hence it is current. I took an appointment at the local USCIS office but they did not say anything much. They said it is at the Nebraska office ( big news !) and said that they will contact me if they need any information

I thought everybody goes thru the same biometrics appt after having applied for I-485 - is that not the case? Is it different as you mention yours was code-3 bio?

How does one find out what kind of biometrics one did post I-485?
