Default severance and new job

Hi,

I got laid off from my company earlier this month and due to the WARN act in California, got two months notice, which means I am still on the payroll with all benefits, but I do not have to turn up for work. For all practical purposes, I am terminated but I get paid for 2 months and H1B is valid for the same period.

I happened to find a similar job in another company and will most probably join them end of this month. So for another month, I will get two pay checks (not as exciting as it sounds) - one from new company and my previous company will continue to pay me for a month even after my H1B has been transferred to my new company.

Will this cause any problems? My old company does not care what I do in the notice period they gave me and said I need not inform them if I get a new job. Their paychecks will automatically stop after the end of the notice period.

Can this affect my GC process by any chance?

thanx in advance for any replies.
