Default EAD and AP expired

my EAD and AP both expired around oct 08, and i didn't bother renewing them. i've been using my H1B status and visa on the passport.
my H1B had recently expired too (already in the process of renewal).

anyway, i am thinking of renewing both the EAD and AP, just in case. i know AP is a travel document, so it can be reapplied anytime whenever you want to travel.

my questions are:
- would i have trouble with renewing my EAD since it's already expired?
- are both EAD and AP's validity period for 2 years?
- are the forms to be used the same (I-765 & I-131) even though mine are expired cases?
- paper-based vs online submission. is one less hassle compared to the other?
- can i do this myself without a lawyer?

thanks very much.

As long as your 485 pending, you can apply for EAD / AP at anytime.

- AP will be valid for 1 year from the date of issue
- EAD validity depends on whether your PD is retrogressed or not, 140 status etc. Fill in your profile for the best answer.

Yes, 765 for EAD and 131 for AP

- Paper you can avoid FP, wait for the receipt notice in the mail
- Online instant receipt, wait for FP

It easy, do it yourself - If you got money, use attorney.

doing it online yourself is very easy. it is just filling out an online form and submitting it online.
make sure you write down the documents they ask you to submit by mail after you apply online. if you dont send in your documents, then your file will be closed.
