Maximum time limit to get the H1B stamped after I797 is issued

I have exactly the same question.
If you look at VFS appointment scheduling if it is more than 1 year that your 797 was renewed and if you did not go for stamping they put you under different class of renewal. You can check this by going to VFS appointment site and there they ask the question are you applying for the same class of visa that got expired 1 yr ago or something like that... Can anyone shed some light on this. Since i am on the same boat like the person who asked this question.

I actually went for stamping in my 4th year, that's after extending my H1 after the first 3 years. They didn't ask any questions. I'm not from India though so I don't know whether its different.

Per my knowledge
You can have the new stamping done before 6 months of expiry of the current stamp in ur passport or within 1 year of it's expiry.
