H1B Extension Visa stamping question

Hi, currently i am in US holding H1B visa and stamping till Dec28,2011. I applied for H1B Extension and it has been approved. I am planning to go for stamping to Tijuana, Mexico in Nov2011. My question is, if my visa is rejected for some reason, can i re-enter US with my Old Visa Stamping, Old I797? If they reject my New petition does it mean they rejected all my petitions i.e old H1b and Old Visa stamping?

IF you have issues with your new H-1b stamping the first thing they do is cancel your existing visa. last month my friend went to same place and they canceled his existing visa..

Thanks for response Dev ............. in that case what your friend did? did he went back to india immediately from Mexico or did they gave him 2 week visa to US to get his things and go back to india?

Eventful he got his new Visa, but the point is any issues with new stamping they will cancel your existing visa. But my other friend who went to matamoros came back to USA on temp I-94 for two weeks. Getting is temp I-94 is not a big issue. Hope this helps

Sai, To my knowledge Tijuana is the best place for stamping as of now ..so good luck

Thanks for suggestion Dev .......... till last week i had confusion whether to go to Canada or Mexico for stamping .......... but after reading blogs about entering US with existing Visa when 221g is received, Canada visa to attend for Visa stamping etc .... i decided to go to Mexico

Good luck to you. Please do let us know how it went. I would be in the same shoes in a couple of months and would hate to go all the way to India just for stamping. I would love to go to Mexico for my stamping as well.

Questions asked by VO Officer

VO: Good Morning
me: Good Afternoon Officer (it was 12:00 PM). how are you doing today?

VO: Doing good. So you came for Visa Renewal?
me: Yes, i came for H1b Visa Revalidation

VO: what is your status before H1?
me: i was on F1. I did my master is so and so college

VO: in which field?
me: in Electrical and Computer Engineering

VO: You work for whom?
me: i work for XXX company

VO: the other Indian guy sitting with you is also from your employer?
me: no, he works for different company

VO: What you do for them?
me: told him about my job duties

VO: where is your employer located?
me: My employer is located in ABC

VO: Where do you work?
me: I work at client's place in NYC

VO: Who is the client?
me: My Client is XYZ.

VO: So you live in NYC?
me: No, i live in 123

VO: So your employer is in ABC, your client is in NYC and you live in 123?
me: yes, initially i used to stay at my employer location and later i moved to 123

VO: When did you start working for this client?
me: I joined in XXXX,2011

VO: How long this project will be?
me: This project will be for another 3 years. I have client letter which describes my job duties and duration of the project.

VO: that is greate.
VO: Do you have other documents like project details or pay stubs etc?
me: yes, i handed over paystubs.

VO; So what is your salary?
me: $ XXXX per month

VO: Do you have tax returns?
me: Yes, you want W2's or tax returns?

VO: Tax returns
me: Sure. handed over last 2 years tax returns

VO: So your tax consultant is in different state than all of your other states?
me: yes, My freind recomended this tax consulatant to me and i am continuing with him for last 3 years

VO: Do you see him very often?>
me: No, But i will call him when ever i need any information

Then Visa Officer went inside with all these documents and came back after 5 min.

VO: So you did your masters right?
me: yes

VO: Where are your parents located?
me: In India

VO: where in India?
me: In Hyderabad, which is South part of India

VO: Why did you come to Tijuana all the way from NYC?
me: explained him the reason.

VO: Mexico processing time is faster right? faster than other countries in the world?
me: no, it is not about processing time. I explained him the reason again.

Then VO said " Your Visa is approved" and asked me to collect it next day.

That's it folks........... though it was long interview, finally he aproved my Visa. There were 3 TN visa employees who were approved and 1 fulltime H1b (Indian guy) who got his visa approved too. Suggestion is to carry all supporting documents.

Congratulation @sai1685. what a huge relief for you, especially with the EVC model and the horror stories back home in india.

If you don't mind, what reason you gave for visiting Mex. for stamping.

I told him that "I was looking for visa appointment dates during Thanks giving week in Canada. Meanwhile my supervisor asked me to go to client's LA location to assist users in testing and training. So i looked for dates in mexico around this week and i got this appointment time. That's why i am here"

Hi Sai,

Did you had appointment with ASC the date before?

I have a similar case as you yours. I am going for a renewal with the
same employer.

my ASC date is 2nd May 2012 and consulate date is 3rd May.

What hotel did you stay in Tijuana?
