Default After leave of absence from school, is it possible F1 to E2?

Hello, I'm a international student who has F1 status. I changed my visa status B2 to F1 in USA 5 years ago.

Recently, I got a glaucoma on my eyes, and It made me impossible continuing to study.
So, I determine to do my own business. To do so, I need to get E2.
So I will take a leave of absence for this semester from school, and apply E2.

However, I heard that I need to maintain F1 status to get E2.

I met couple of lawyers, but they weren't sure that leave of absence is OK or Not to apply E2.

Please let me know about this.
I'll look forward to hear from you. Thanks.

Note. My all family live in USA, so I couldn't go back to my origin country to live with abnormal eyes.

One more thing.

This semester end In June, and I will get I(incomplete) or F(Fail) grade from all my classes because I missed so many time to go hospital.
If I don't take a leave of absence from school, There's risk to lost my F1 status also.
And It is impossible to apply and get E2 before end of this semester.
