Default Visa stamping at Mumbai - H1B/H4

We are planning to get our passort stamped (H1B/H4) at Mumbai consulate. Does anyone know how many pay-stubs I will need from my current employer? Can anyone please share their experience?

Thanks a lot.

Default 3-6 months should be enough

You can take upto 6 months of paystubs with you for the stamping. Since you are carrying yiour W2's as well, they very well reflect your past earnings.

6 months? Boss only 2 recent paystubs are required.
@itsmesabby : Its because of people like you, USCIS is asking for unneccesary XYZ documents for the extension or 485 processes nowadays. Because you are providing more than required documentation.
Think before you suggest something.

Default You think before commenting

jcrajput.. I have had my renewal stamping done last month in India and am purely stating from personal experience. I was asked for to show 6 months of paystub by the officer. Luckily I had them on me so I could show it.

You can take the minimum but travelling with the minimum puts your family at a risk when you go for the interview. No lawyer or any other member at IV can help you there. It Doesnt hurt to be proactive and prepared in the right way. In this time of recession, more documentation has been asked then ever. For my earlier stamping no documents were required, but this time W2's and paystubs were asked.

You may even want to ask Mr 1000 watt when he last got his stamping done and go by whatever he recommends.

Default None asked for me

I had my restamping done at Mumbai consulate 2 weeks back. They only asked me about the salary and what physical location I am working. I had taken last 3 salary slips with me, but not used at all. Make sure H4 interview is at right category if restamping H4. VFS folks did not allow my wife to go to interview since her H4 stamp on passport was expired more than 12 months, even though she has I529 approval for the period after that. One more thing with Mumbai consulate is you have to hand deliver all your paper work atleast 5 working days in advance. They do not accept via currier or other means.

Can you tell us if you renewed your H1B with the one who filed your previous H1B or you filed with a new employer this time?

Same question to you my friend. Did you renewed your H1B with the old employer or you filed with a new employer this time?

Default Same Employer

I filled the renewal with the same employer as well. The documentation requested at the counsalate depends upon the officer. He/She may or may not ask for any documents.

Default Preapre to answer questions about your job profile

I was asked the following questions:

1. Which client I am currently working at and what is my role there.
2. What is my education background.
3. Paystubs and W2's
4. How long have worked for my employer

Just get your papers in order and be confident. Being confident really helps.
