Brother, we two are the BIGGEST SUCKERS in this thread, having gone for Sony. Sony NEVER likes to accommodate other manufacturers or providers for their products. Sigh, if I had known that my DVD player is much more than just a DVD player these days, I might have gone for Roku.

But, if YOU happen to find out what file formats the Sony BD player supports, I could work out a hack. At first I thought it will read HTML, but no. No HTML, no XML. It does listen on port 50000 or something (get a port scanner and test it out, or just go to its IP using the browser)

Basically, I would create a menu item, called "Internet videos", and once user (us) clicks, it will direct to google.com (the way it should have worked from the start, IMO)

Yes, since I already know it doesn't speak html, I will update my plan but first I want to know what format is its menu system. It apparently runs on linux ...

This could be just for Fedora though ... but WMP also functions as a DLNA server (My BD player connects to it) but I haven't figured out how to stream from there

Apple is at least a little developer-friendly, and you may be able to install stuff that gives you what you want. But Sony has no development savvy, stuck in their outdated model of doing things. They still think they can hold consumers to ransom, but it is not true any more; they have to wake up and see the world..

YES IT IS VERY BAD. I FIND IT WORSE THAN watchIndia.tv

I had one year subscription with watchindia. And now with DISH IPTV, which is worse than watchindia.

I have been using ReliableIPTV for more than 2 years, service is depend on the Internet speed; Recently I have moved to comcast internet service had trouble for a week and settled down now.

Once in a month you will hit a problem with service for 1 or 2 days, but resolves afterwards.

You can buy Roku and add YuppTV and watch free news channels, and I have also tried teluguTV which did not stream properly.

I have 55' LED LCD with 1080P support, and Roku V1 with ReliableIPTV and Comcast 20MBPs download speed. With that combination, I am happy with reliable IPTV service so far.

Star Network now has all of their channel's episodes on their website in HD quality. Mostly they are the previous day's episodes. Good enough for me....

I have dishnetwork with DVR for 2 rooms and get almost 17 indian channels +English channels and I pay $60/Month . I just don't understand what is the point in Nickel and diming on these things for a few $$, especially when you want to watch something and you cannot or has to struggle hours to make it work and then right at the climax its buffering....................................

I did it all PANSAT, Laptop, Roku and then finally decided to throw everything out of the window and get on dishnetwork. Its works when I want it and I can record also.+ I bought BWCinema for latest movies and will be closing the Netflix account as everything on it is crap, instead whenever I want I can go to redbox and rent a movie and watch.

If you average the amount of time spent +money spent on gadget, you would find that it almost or actually more that you spent in terms of Quality and entertainment index.

I agree with you completely.. however I have a question - how do you stream BWCinema without a laptop or PC connected to the TV? I have Google TV and PS3 and both have full featured browsers but BWCinema does not work on either one of them.. In fact the BWC's site states that it does not work on Rocku (sic), GTV, and other streaming devices.

Thats exactly what I do as well but I was wondering if you had figured anything else that could eliminate the PC from the set up.

By the way LogMeIn is also free on iPad now. It used to be $30 until about couple of months ago.
