Default Received CPO & Welcome mail today- Question on address change

Hi Guys!

I have received two e-mails today : Card procution ordered & welcoming PR. Good news after a long time! I had filed under EB-2 - PD Octo'2005 but had an approved I-140 under EB-3 with PD of Octo'2003- & the date transfer worked after many efforts!

My question is that I am moving from my current address (known to USCIS) to another permenant address this weekend. I was not knowing that USCIS will be so quick(!) & hence already informed USPS of the "permenant address change" throuh their web site(day before yesterday). USPS forwards first-class mail & priority mail & other mails to new address for one year but will not forward if the mailer has mentioned on the envelope "do not forward". Do USCIS send PR card by first class mail or priority mail? do they mention on the cover "do not forward"? What should I do here- cancel my "premenant address change with USPS for another one or two weeks (my old landlady is ok with this) OR inform USCIS regarding my address change at this time- I am afraid it may lead to some more delay from their side. I would be informing all government agencies & other concerned about my address change but do not want to receive my GC "late" in my hand for obvious reasons.

Please guide.

I appreciate the help/support & guidance I have received from you guys & this site.

Thanks,

Raj

The GC arrives in an unmarked envelope with a "Return Service Requested" endorsement on it. With this endorsement if the mail is not deliverable as addressed (which includes the case where there is mail forwarding request like yours) it is returned to the mailer with new address. In other words your GC won't get forwarded to you new address.

You would have to cancel the forward or ask the post office to hold the mail for you.

Congratulations rajivkane!!! Enjoy the freedom. You can open a PO Box and change the address with USCIS to your PO Box. You should be good then.

Could you also please outline what all did you do to get the date ported? Thanks in advance.

Default wish you all the best

congratulations to you. The best thing is go to post office and cancel your address forward.
Then keep on checking with your current address owner.
OR wait for 30 days and if did not receive you call USCIS and they will post to your current address.
Can you please highlight what are the things you did to port the priority date.

Default How long does it to get the GC card in mail after the CPO & WELCOME LETTER?

Thanks Guys,

How long approximately does it take to receive the GC by post after the CPO & welcome to new PR e-mail?

Raj

It would be very helpful if you could briefly describe all that you did to port the priority date.

Thanks
