Default Getting a mortgage while on EAD

Has anyone applied for a mortgage (first time/refi) while on EAD ? What status did you select - US Citizen or Permanent Resident ? And what documentation did you provide for your status ?

My loan has been approved, but the bank that I am working with will only accept a Green Card or H1B visa

Can you share the name of the Bank, you are working with that will not Accept EAD. You can not select US Citizen or Permanent Resident in the form, as you are with EAD and pending AOS not an LPR yet. But AOS (Pending 485 with EAD) should be okay to get a loan. I did a loan few years back and a re-fi couple months back and did not have any issue. Most banks are okay, but few might cause an issue.

I had done it and just tell the bank that you have applied for permanent residency and your application is pending ( you are in AOS ) . If your bank doesn't do it go to some other one who will. I had done both - mortgage and refinance this year with a local bank and faced no questions at all .

Recently I took a FHA loan... Had no issues with loan approval using EAD. (Gilpin, Chase, BoA and other local bank, all of them comfirmed my eligibility)

FHA Handbooks

When they ask your status... do not use the word AOS. Just say 'I am on EAD'. Most of them do not understand the term AOS.
