Default Indian passport renewal at washington DC

Hi,
Im planning to visit the indian embassy at washington dc with all the required documents for my old passport renewal. Can anyone please answer these questions?
1) Can I get the new passport on same day when i visit the embassy taking an appoinment?
2) Is there an extra charge for receiving the new passport on same day?

I think only if you can prove that you have an emergency. Otherwise by post if you pay an additional 150 bucks you should get it in a weeks time. If you go to the office they delay it. I got my passport after a month and a half after visiting the consulate in person

Default question about address for passport renewal

Hello!

I am trying to renew my passport at the Washington DC consulate. I am confused by what address should I enter for the Address to be printed in the passport. In the instructions it says that this is the same US address where the passport will be sent.

I though it should be my permanent address in India. and the other address should be my US address.

Has anyone renewed their passport at Washington? What did you fill out for the 2 addresses?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Pratiksha

I used the US address for Permanaent address as well. I moved once after that and then used the new address (again US) at the time of renewal

Yes i can see how it gets confusing. Are you applying in person or by post. If in person you can clarify at the annexe. That way there is no mention of indian address

And to confirm ....
Address in passport would be the same address in the origional passport (Indian address)

Thanks, HRPRO and Plain Speak for your help. I have checked other consulate offices and depending on the office, you are instructed to enter either Indian address or US address.

I am glad to know that the US address is not a problem especially since, the Washington Embassy branch actually mentions that the address to be printed in the passport is also the address to which the passport is sent.
