Nearly 800 American Businesses and Universities Call for a Reasonable Solution to the H-1B Blackout and Lengthy “Green Card” Backlogs (.pdf 55 KB) Nearly 800 U.S. businesses and universities signed a letter supporting the Senate proposal, initially included in the budget reconciliation bill, to recapture unused H-1B and employment-based visa numbers. This letter was delivered to both the Senate and the House in November and December 2005. AILA Doc. No. 06020663.

Default Great find but...

Great find. However, apparently it did not have any effect on S.1932 or December congressional committee.

Default Posted Link takes us to a blank page. New Link?

I have always said that (Indian and Chinese) workers affected by Retrogression should talk to their immigration HR staff or departments. I do it once in 15 days and vent my frustration.

I have also heard from a reliable source that retrogression issues are now tied to President's Bush's visit to India to extract ( or extricate out of US-India Nuclear cooperation deal signed during Indian PMslast visit) concessions from the Indian side. Wonder, if any one on the Indian side cares?

Hey, I made my contribution to Immigration Voice.

Default great news, but unable to open the PDF

Sai

This must have been best of all the documents we've been anticipating sofar. However, when i try to open it, all i see is i don't have access

Is there any other way to see the content so that we also can get some ideas how to draft some more in the next few weeks

Default the same letter would be more effective now

Personally i feel the same appeal WILL make a difference now because all the H1B quota exhausted practically including the 20000 (with MS from US universities) , companies typically go for hiring spree in the first quarter ; so on and soforth. If you look at the job market in IT, lot of openings but no candidates. I hope same is the case with other industries as well

"Timing is also a very important factor"

This is AILA site. Only Lawyers "I think" have access to this site. Details are not open to public. I dont know how to get the doc's details.
