FOIA to get copy I-140 Approval Notice?

Can we get the copy of I-140 Approval Notice under the Freedom Of Independence Act (FOIA)? If so, please advise the way to do it.

My Details are:

EB2-India-PD-Dec2005-Perm-I 140 Approved in May2006

I am not able to find the form needs to be submitted for this purpose. Is there any format that I can type and submit them?

Are you sure that you can request the copy.. The Classified information may not come under this act.Call the USCIS and they will guide you.

I talked to USCIS information center at (202) 272-8269. They asked me to submit Form G-639 (it is available at www.uscis.gov --> under forms section). It has all the instructions to request the copies we needed.

It will help all those who want to port their PD while shifting companies without being at the mercy of the employer.

For G-639 Form on number 5 section it is asking for Petition or Claim Reciept#

How do I find Reciept# for my approved I-140 since my Employer lawer does not want to share information.

Guys if the employer's lawyer is not giving you information regarding the I140 and you are going behind their back for this information is it really going to help you with portability? It looks like they are just trying to make life miserable for you and what guarantee is there that they will not revoke your I140? I140 portability does not work if they revoke your I 140.

unless I am egregiously mistaken, I 140 is totally employers and not employee's. How can you invoke FOIA on that? I mean freedom of info doesnt mean a breach of privacy or disclose "compny/personal" documentation.

Nixstor..i have only same view but i dont understand how USCIS is proceeding...As per gc_in_30_years it seems possible..but never trust Customer Support at USCIS..Many Dont know the rules..

Also, this is useful for Priority Date portability, Priority Date is all your once your I-140 is aproved and you need to submit the copy with your next I-140 to use the old Priority Date, in this case also, it very useful if the employer does not share this info, and if we can get it from USCIS, we are not at the mercy of Employer anymore.
