Default Should I premium process my 1-140?

Hi,

I am in 7th year of my H1. I have received H1 extension from current employer valid till March 2008. I have received my LC and am debating if I should premium process my I-140.

Will the approved I-140 help me switch employers and in that case will my priority date be carried forward?

Thanks!

If you have a Priority Date close to the retrogression date of your EB category, then having an approved I-140 soon might be helpful; go for a premium processing in that case. If not, then premium processing I-140 may not help right away.
Having an approved I-140 will not help in switching employers. You need to have an approved I-485 or an I-485 application pending for at least than 6 months.

Go for it! You will be eligible for 3 year extensions from employer who sponsored it. Also once the I140 is approved the priority date is yours. As far as switching employers is concerned, it is best to switch at the inception of your 3 yr H1 and then ask your new employer to file again. Since your I140 is approved use that priority date when you apply for your ne I140
