We really need some input from Gurus.
Please advice.

As per USCIS, currently Dec 18th, 2011 I-131 applications are in process
I don't think that is true. Which Service Center is that? I applied to NSC online for both EAD/AP combo on April 9th. I got email today that they both got approved. I have to wait and see if they gave me combo card or not..

Here is MY view on extreme cases that USCIS would honor. Extreme financial conditions, Extreme medical / human conditions. these are NOT like you will lose few thousand bucks.. these are like losing several tens of thousands of dollars.

Extreme medical conditions refer to life and death. By actually trying to expedite for any reasons beyond these would just feel like abuse the system.

Now i understand its above timelines of USCIS , best option is to raise a ticket for expedited on general conditions since it is beyond processing time of USCIS and if no action or if request rejected then reach out to your local rep wait for another 5 days and if not go to infopass.

this is best you can do.

hope this helps.

neel_gump, Can you share when you get your card that whether it is 1 yr or 2 yrs?

I was told (by my lawyer) that if you apply EAD+AP together, they issue a 1 year card and if you apply separately then you would get EAD 2 yrs and AP 1yr. I was also told that I need to keep a separation of at least 1 mnth in order for USCIS to not to issue a combo card.

I keep you posted. I "hope" you lawyer is not correct. Otherwise it really sucks!! Last two times I got 2-year EADs. They only reason I applied them together this time is to get a combo card for 2 years. Wow!! I will know in a day or two...

I also applied for both EAD and AP together on April 24th. Today my AP status changed to Approved on May 14th. That was really quick - less than a month. But my EAD status has not changed from Initial Review. Now waiting to see what is coming in the mail since I have never trusted the online status application for USCIS. I hope they send me a 2yr combo card which is what I was hoping for.

I filed on 3/25 and both EAD and AP are still stuck at Initial Review with no change in LUD since the day of filing!!!

I do not think there is any harm in doing that....one of the reasons I stated in my letter to USCIS is as below and faxed a copy of my tickets.

If we end up canceling or postponing our trip due to Advance Parole document not issued on time by USCIS then it would cost us a few thousand dollars and re-planning and re-booking air tickets in this peak travel season would end us up with few more thousands. Hence, it is a severe financial loss to us as well.

Update on my case - Applied for both EAD/AP on April 23 hoping to get combo card. Today I received my AP in the mail. It is a 1 year AP like the traditional one.
(Thank god that I could wait for my AP to expire before applying for both EAD/AP so I didnt lose any time on previous AP.)

EAD status still says Initial Review. I had also included a letter in my supporting documentation asking USCIS to consider my application for a 2 year combo card. Looks like e-filing does not get you a 2 yr combo card - only paper filing does.

Today I received my 2 year EAD/AP combo card. Applied both of them online on April 9th (NSC). I got approval notice couple of days ago. FYI: This is my 4th EAD and 5th AP. But this is the first time I received combo-card.

Your lucky - Not sure why I didnt deserve the 2yr combo card. Not sure if TSC is issuing combo cards or not since that is the only difference between our applications.

"Lucky"? No way dude!! Ever after being in this country for more than 13 years, and even after being in the GC queue for more than 8 years, even after ~30 or so LIN receipts to stay legally in this country...NO GREENCARD yet..So I won't call myself lucky!!!

By the way, I nearly lost my job because USCIS took 95days to issue my EAD last time...

I am getting worried now... I applied online for EAD and AP on March 25th and my onoine status has not changed since - not even a LUD change!!

neel_gump, did you see any updates on your online status between April 9th and today?
