Default EAD activation

My husband, the primary applicant is filing for his EAD along with his I-485. I am on my H-1 and filing along with him. If the primary applicant activates/uses his EAD would my (the dependent applicant) EAD be automatically activated too? I know it is not the other way around. I don't want this to happen as I want to keep my H-1 status.

Can someone please advise.

Thanks

No. It will be in effect once you decide to use for your payroll.

Does EAD have an expiration date once you get it? Or does it count from the day that EAD is activated?

Even though your husband uses EAD it does not affect you because you are on H-1 and maintaing your own status.

valid for one year, the dates are given on the EAD card. For renewal you have to apply 6 months in advance

Thanks for your replies, so it's not like you can activate it at a later date than the issuance date.
