Default Job Market

Hi everyone,

I'm planning for a job change and just wanted to check if people (H-1B, EAD, GC holders) have been job hunting lately and what has been their experience with respect to response time in getting offers etc. Keep hearing about the weak job market, economic slowdown & increase in unemployment rates during the months of Aug & Sept. Any feedback would be appreciated. Apologize if subject is out of place in this forum, but where else can I reach out to so many techies :-)

I am a VC++/C# Win CE/ XP embedded programmer - 10+ years experience - I may have to start looking for Contract positions as my current contract may end soon (not 100% sure) - any idea how it is in the Tri State area?

yeah - have been hearing the same, but then, also heard that things are picking up - IV members in general give a realistic perspective, so lets see the kind of responses we get.

Though I am not sure if I have to look for one, I may have to.

I've got 10 years of experience in Java, J2EE & Linux. This time last year, it took me just a couple of weeks to land a full time offer in the DC area. This time around the response has been slow for both full time and contracting positions. But, I just started a few days back with my search, but nevertheless I feel it's a bit slow now.

Default My 2 cents

Generally, October onwards are a slow period considering companies dont plan to invest in new projects as IT budgets are decided in the beginning of the year. Most of the IT requirements at this time of the year is to replace somebody leaving the project. January to March is the right time for looking new opportunities.
