I went to Chennai and Hyderabad thru Dubai in last 2 years. I felt it was really nice. No transit visa stuff. Good veggie food, lot of entertainment and good service. A bit costly compared to other airlines. On overall good experience and no regrets for higher price

I travelled to chennai last March via Emirates. No problems with transit visa or something. The price was good too. airport has a duty free shop for Jewellery and other stuff. good place to shop. but we had to wait a long time for the connecting flight.

The next time I go there, am planning to take a visa and tour Dubai. Heard that Dubai has some great places to see.

My experiences have been the best with Emirates and have always travelled Emirates. But the last time I travelled, I had a bad experience.
I travelled from JFK to Chennai in August, 2007 and my baggage did not come in the same flight. They had to trace the baggage and then both my bags arrived in 2 different days and I had to buy clothes, shoes, nightwear but Emirates reimbursed and gave me like $60 in cash for all expenses.
Apart from this, I have had pleasant experiences with Emirates and will continue to fly emirates.

When I traveled to Hyd, my luggage went missing. They found that the connecting flt to JFK didn't deliver the bags to Emirates. I got that after 2 days. But they gave me $50 at Hyd and also amount equivalent 2 2nd AC train tickets to my District. They have really good shops at Dubai airport.

One of my friends took a tourist Visa and went to visit Dubai on this return trip to US. He was sent to additional screening at JFK after seeing Dubai visa in his PP. No problems at the end. This is just an info.

Default Please Please be careful!!!!

Please be careful when travelling to or via Dubai

Click on the link below to see a shocking story of the policies of the UAE government related to carrying medicines when travelling to/via Dubai:

http://travel.timesonline.co.uk/tol/...cle3333905.ece

Also click on the link below to see a list of Banned medicines which if carried by the travellers to/via Dubai may land them in trouble:

I was shocked to find regular over-the-counter medicines as Robotussin, Actified or other Expectorant or decongestant medicines that contain - Guaifenesin and Pseudoephedrine HCl, which are common ingredients in many over-the-counter cold and cough medicines available in the US:.

Took Emirate last month. the overall experience was good. Missed my flight from Dubai as the flight from JFK had to be de-iced. But Emirates arranged for my stay at Dubai and also got me a transit visa... so can't complain .

But I last year I flew home by Jet and I thought the service, food, everything about the flight was really good. Would strongly recommend flying by Jet.

My information is 12 years old, but something you might want to check into. Back then Emirates would put you up in a downtown hotel if you wanted to break your journey. And you didn't have to get a Dubai visa if you were staying less than 24 hours.

We took a transit visa for a 10 hour break once while flying from JFK to Chennai. Emirates arranges for one, if you pay like $20 or so, all we did was to spend time at the gold shopping place (wallet got lighter offcourse) and got back to the airport in couple of hours. We would want to go again and probably take a longer break and stay over - the shopping is awsome, Dubai is scenic, especially the Jumairah palm and those areas.

Jet is not cheap anymore, they had the prices low for sake of promotion. It is very expensive now. Emirates is cheap. Thats what I am hearing. And emirates.com offers the lowest fares.
