I-601 / divorce help
Hello,
I am a resident in the US and have initiated the I-601 process for my wife approximately 5 years ago. She is now in Argentina waiting on the process to be approved. We received a letter from the embassy stating that the application was received and it will take approximately another 5 months. Since the time of application 5 years ago, things have changed and I have been staying in the marriage in order for her to be able to get her residency. I can no longer remain married due to the fact that I have not been happy with her for years, but I do not want to put her residency in danger. Am I able to file for divorce now and not have it affect her I-601 process.
