Default AP pending for 80 days now - Need to travel :(

Hi Guys

I Applied for my AP on Nov 19th 2012, and its almost 80 days today and still in initial review, EAD was approved on Jan 30th

I absolutely need to travel on March 12 , 2013 (my father's 60th birthday/wedding). As it nears the 90 days processing window it concerns me more , as all relatives are being invited and preparations are in full swing - I worry about AP being approved in time.

Can you please share your experience and wisdom on what can be done :

Option I: i have taken an infopass at Newark field office on Feb 19th 2013 which is past 90 day advertised processing window at TSC

Option II : call USCIS customer service and request to expedite

.... and what other option do i have - Kindly help me out !

Thanks !

Go to the Uscis field office with infopass and they will initiate the process.Since it passed 90 days you may get AP in 10-15 days.

Thanks Ultimo.

Guys - did you even face a situation like this where you need to travel ( well dont know if USCIS sees this as emergency but for me this is really important) - and AP was pending, if so please let me know how you overcame this.

Really annoying when they dont issue a combo card and let AP hang in there

Infopass should help in such cases.

Smile Go ahead and travel ....

I was in the same situation. My brother marriage was there and I had not received my AP document. I called USCIS and they said, they have shipped it and I should get it 1-2 weeks time. But I did not had 1 week wait time. So, I did my travel arrangement and went to India. Before leaving, I had given my mail box key to my neighbor. After I completed my 3 weeks vacation, my neighbor called and informed me that he has couriered my AP through Fedex. With my AP and completing my 4 week vacation/ marriage/ family gathering, I entered US .

Sometimes, we need to look outside the box !!!!.

Good Luck...

I am having same issue, my ead/ap is pending for more than 100 days. Filled SR but they responded saying "We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below".

Shall i take an infopass or apply for ombudsman. Does infopass yield more result than this. I am on H1 so it does not stop me from working so cant expedite the request.

I faced the same issue. Called up USCIS and requested them to expediate my case. Gave them the reason. An SR was opened. I was told that if additinal information is required, I would be contacted. Next day I got an email from an USCIS inspector asking me to provide additional information to expediate my case. A fax number was also proviced. I faxed over all documents such as tickets along with a cover letter explaining that I would incur substantial financial loss if I need to re-schedule my tickets.
After 3 business days, the case status changed "Pending Review" to " Card Production Ordered".
My advice is to open a SR and explaining the situation. Please be prepared to provide additional documents.

I applied for my AP and booked air tickets for whole family 4 months ahead. I was sure I will get mine before my travel. Unfortunately I didn't get even after 90 days. I called customer service and I was told that they are still processing the older dates so they can't create a service request. Waited for few more days then I called again.. same response.
I had only one week before the travel. I contacted my congresswoman office. They called NSC and got the response that mine was approved but didn't send the papers. They took info pass appointment for me and assured me I will get my AP at local office and also provided me a letter.

I went to the local office and inquired about my application and showed the letter. The guy at the counter said that they don't issue AP at local office, but he created a service request. Next day, I got a response from NSC that My AP was approved and doc was sent 60 days ago.

Only 5 more days left for my travel. I informed the NSC response to the congresswoman office. They contacted NSC again and talked to the supervisor and confirmed my AP doc was not sent and asked me send the duplicate copy of my receipt with photos to NSC with return FedEx overnight envelop.

I sent everything and waited for one more day and didn't get anything. I was contacted by my congresswoman office to make sure I got it. Then again they called NSC and got the response that the NSC has sent it through regular USPS mail.

I postponed my trip for a week (paid ticket cancellation fee 250$ and new ticket diff $800). Finally I got mine and was able to attend my sister's marriage.

I didn't expect this much help from my congresswoman office.

My advice is, do not travel without AP in your hand. anything can happen.

Smile e-Filing v/s Manual Filing

Lots of them who went back to their home countries, applied AP through e-filing. This caused USCIS to scrutinize all documents in detail before approving the AP document.

To avoid all these issues, I have always done ( last 3-4 years) manual AP paper filing. Filled up all the documents manually, attached the required documents and send it by USPS. This process works better.

I applied during Sept last week ( 2012) and got my AP during first week of December 2012.

Good Luck for all.
