Default Taking help of Congressman/Senator

Hello Guys

Did anyone recently take the help of their local Congressman/Senator for sending a letter out to USCIS once the PD became current? Can some one be kind enough to post the process they followed to get this done.

Do you contact your local congressman or Senator?

Thank you

You could delay your case by doing that.

Default Help of Congressmen

to eastindia:

I have actually heard infact opposite from everyone that to expedite your case you take help of your congressmen. Actually there have been numerous cases where people have benefitted from taking help of congressmen.

Can you share what are your facts based on which you make this statement

Thanks

You are going by people who do not see the actual process in the office. I remember reading from IV core some time back not to open SR and these things when you get current. They asked to wait for a month and do it. Otherwise case will be delayed. There was also a long post a couple of years ago explaining why in the USCIS process it may cause delays.

Default Post about SR delay

Can you please point me to that post if possible. It will help me analyze.

Thanks

If IV core is telling to wait for a month and then act then don't you think its too late since my date is not going to stay current beyond Sep 30th. The dates will retrogress back to 05 come Oct 1st.

Default My experiance

Hi,

Not to start a fight or advise against the senior folks here, but my experiance is somewhat different.

I contacted my local senator 1 day before I became current (7/31 - I became current on 8/1). I got a reply the next day from the Senator's office saying please wait for 3-4 weeks and if there is no response they will follow up again. But by 8/8 I have my GC in hand.

Not sure if the Sentor's follow up helped or not - but here is the history. I requested my Sentor's help last year in Mar/April as well but unfortunately the visas were not avaialble even though my PD showed current. The senator office told me to wait until Oct 2012 (new year). But even after Oct 2012 my date never became current until Aug 2013. So as soon as I saw that my date became current in Aug 2013 I revived the last disucssion with my senator's office and I believe it was impactful.

Please use your best judgement. Thank you!

Can you please advice on the process you followed on contacting the Senator. Is it helpful to contact the Senator or the local Congressman?

Thank you

Default My experiance

As I said above I contacted my Senator. Please go to your Senator's website and there will be a section on 'Requesting help from Government Agency'. Please folllow those directions.

You may need to fill a form with your details and sign an agreement to share your details with USCIS. That's all. Your senator's office should call/email you for further steps.

It is all speculative that something worked. Its like astrology. When something works, they praise the pundit. When it does not work, they blame past deeds.

Service request and Senator inquiry is treated exactly the same when initiated. It is not that because a Senator has asked, so our application will be pulled and approved ahead of others. If you disturb the natural process flow, application will get delayed. This is based on my reading. I am trying to find that thread but cannot . If I find it I will post it.
