Dont think this will cause any issues.Situation changes, at the time of interview it is quite possible they were thinking of travelling together but due some issues they could not but this does not mean they will be denied entry. If they are able to answer the immigration to satifascation they will be given entry for a max duartion of six months .
Point is DS 156 is for visa stamping ,remember getting a visa does not neccessarily grant you entry into the country.The entry will totally be dependent on the inspection done at the airport by immigrations.But in majority of the case if you have a valid visa and answer the immgrations satisfactorily u are granted entry
