Default 7th Year visa stamping if new employer hasn’t started the GC process

I have an approved I140 (from a consulting company). My 7th year extension is for different employer (full time) who hasn't started my GC process yet. I am not sure if old employer revoked the I-140 or not. Is it safe to go for visa stamping considering I am in 7th year of H1b, and my new employer hasn't started the GC process yet?

With so much of uncertainity involved, I would play it safe.

BTW, when does your H-1 expire
