Default H1B amendment questions
Hi,
I am working for full time for company A. My company A is planning to transfer me from west to east with same job title,I have to apply for H1B amendment for location change.

1.H1 Amendments means is it completely new H1 petition or just using existing H1 with amendments.
2.Can anybody tell me how long this amendment process takes place?
3.As soon as I get receipt number,can I start working in the new location or I have to wait till approval?
4.Can I go india while amendment is in progress?
5.If I go india,Do i have to go for re-stamping?

I dont think you need to file ammendment of H1 for relocation. I mean all those guys who are working for consulting firms keep moving from states to states depending on their project. I think all you need to file is a new LCA document. Which is straightforward online form and take its printout for records. It basically just conforms that you are paying the employee in accordance to state laws and prevailing wages. Double check with lawyer.

LCA is an online system. It is approved immediatley (given it meets all conditions).
If full H1 amendment is not needed, it applies immediately.
