L2 to H1 - can we continue stay in us from oct 1 2012?

Hi..

I am on L1 and my wife L2 EAD (both working). We have I94 till next year. This year both of us have applied for H1 individually from our employers and likely my H1 will start rolling from oct 1 2012.
My question is --- in this case , for my wife L2 EAD will become invalid on OCT 1. Can she stay in US (with the receipt for new H1)? or she is not legal to stay in US since no updates on her H1 during that time(oct 1)?
