Default Any recent UK Trasit (DATV) experiences ??

I am planning to travel thru UK with advance parole so need to apply for DATV.

Can you share recent experiences on UK's DATV ? How many days it takes? Does biometric cost is included in Visa Fee? Total cost involved getting DATV for one person?

Appreciate your quick reply

Takes 2 weeks........yes the costs are included. Follow all the instructions. The picture size is non standard so the 4 that you have to send make sure they fit in the box on the application.

It takes 21 business days after they open your application packet. It is a mess - there is no way you can track or contact the consulate. You have to contact their outsourced customer service at $3/min. Finally most people are frustrated and they add priority service at $150 in addition to $80 app fee. This is what they want, then you will get your visa in two days. It's a scam!!!
To add to that, if you are flying british airways, they will treat you as cattle on the flight leg to India.

Used it about a year back for spouse and child. Took about 2 weeks (after mailing the docs) . Fees includes biometrics. And yes, DATV is required for kids as well. If you have any other valid visa (F1, B1 etc.) stamped, you can use that instead of DATV even if you are currently not in US on that visa.

For photo use epassportphoto. Quick and cheap . You can get passport photo for any country for about 30 cent per 4 photo (just the cost of printing at a locat store).
