Default H1 Extension - Client letter with 6 months extension

Hi there,

Here is my situation:

Current H1B expiring in Sept. Applying for extension after 6 yrs. my project is extended for 6 months and Client gave a letter indicating the same period. The client not agreeing to change it to a more generic wording..

My questions:

1. Should I include the client letter or leave it all together? whats better.. I got vendor letters saying the project is an open-ended one..(if it makes any difference, client is fed gov)

2. Is USCIS gonna give me approval for only 6 months?? Any experiences?

Thanks in advance,
vm

Add client letter. It will be good because it is a government. Vendor letter could invite RFE and denial. There is high level of scrutiny of vendor client relationship these days in H1B applications and yours is asking for a special approval beyond the 6 year period. They will want to look at all papers. be very honest. tell them about 6 months in your cover letter and client letter. It is a good thing because they will know you are not here to overstay and have other intentions. Asking for 6 month extension period has a good chance of approval verses asking for open ended.

imh1b thanks for your response!

How will the 6 months project duration on my client letter impact the approval time. Can I still expect a 3 yr approval or will it be 6 months and I have to go back and re-apply after 6 months?

Be on the safe side. Even if you have to change jobs, you have to apply for transfer anyways. You cannot transfer to new job without applying for transfer.
