Question Can anyone guide me about compulsary idle period for H4 visa?

Currently I m in Wisconsin, US on my H4 visa.
I have heard that there is some concept as compulsary idle period as "90 or 180 days" for H4 status.
i.e. I cant apply for job before completion of this idle period. This period changes with state.

Can anyone tell me what is the idle period for H4 status in WI?

Default H4 Visa

It is a dependent visa and you are not allowed to work.

The idle period for H4 visa is as long as you are on H4 visa.

I thik what joshi_here is asking is is there a quite period for H4 visa, during which he/she cannot even apply for a job,(I know H4 cannot work, but atleast can get a H1 and work right?).

So i think the questions is that does a H4 have to wait for say 90/180 days before starting job search(to get a h1 after getting the offer).

Default Shirish has got me right

I wanted to ask that is there any rule or law that prevents me from applying for a job for 90/180 days?
If such rule/ law exists, is the period dependent on stat of my residence?
I am a resident of Wisconsin. Can any one guide me about such period for Wisconsin...

Step 1, look for a job. Step 2, get hired. Step 3, apply for h1. Step 4, let uscis worry about questions such as this one.
Step 5 Apply for GC. Step 6, wait forever..................................

OP, i dont think there is anything like quite period and even if there is one i dont think the rule changes by state. you should be more worrying about the H1 quota now. Just apply for an H1 soon...that too in a premium processing if you want to work. I believe H1 quota is going to be over in a week this year. that would be in the first couple of weeks of April.
