Default Travel to India to get J1 visa stamped...Is it possible to enter the US on valid H-4

Hi Guys
I am a H1B visa holder and my wife is on H-4 until Sep 2009.
My wife is planning to commence her residency and migrate to J1 visa starting in end June. We are planning to have it stamped in India due to the long waiting periods in the US.
My query is that since the J1 visa only lets you re-enter the country 30 days before it commences is it possible for her to enter the US on her H-4 visa or will that be nullified once she gets her J1 visa stamped in the passport.
Regards
Saket

Once she gets J1 visa stamped..her previous status is nullified.

Default almost 3-4 months

Since they need to be in their residency by July 1st and the change of status is taking alomst 3-4 months its pretty much impossible to do so from inside the US.....
The change of status timeline can be check up at the USCIS website...

Please be aware that a J-1 visa is somewhat equivalent to an F-1 visa in the sense that you have to prove that you have sufficient ties to your home country so that you will come back once you are done with the program. On the other hand your H-1B is dual intent. I am not intending to scare you but please be aware of the requirements for getting a J-1 visa.

Good luck on the transfer!
