http://murthy.com/news/n_aostrv.html Question 4. Should I wait for the approval of my application for AP before I travel? ©MurthyDotCom Under current regulations, an AP document cannot be granted to a person outside of the U.S. One hears about people who did not wait for the Advance Parole document to be issued and had someone send it to them while they were outside of the United States. This is not the accepted procedure, and if the person left without having AP or without having H1B, H-4, L-1 or L-2 status, s/he is deemed to have abandoned the I-485 Adjustment of Status application. ©MurthyDotCom While there may be some people who were allowed reentry into the U.S., either in error or on humanitarian grounds, it is risky to depart before the AP is issued. There are provisions for situations in which a person has the AP and requests an extension prior to departure, then does not rely on the AP extension to reenter the U.S., but uses it for a future trip abroad. This situation is different from leaving without having AP at all. |

I don't know if this question has been asked before. Is there a benefit for filing AP by paper rather then electronically. I filed EAD by paper to TCS and got the "Card Production Ordered" email yesterday (in 14 days) for myself and my wife. My friends who efiled just received finger printing appointment notification and no receipts. Is there same benefit with AP? Please calrify.

Hello everyone,
1)Now a days AP renewal is taking 6 months 2) if you already have an Approved AP you can travel out of country with no issues. 3)if you are newly application AP for first time then you should wait until it is approved to go out of country 4) Even if you dont have H1B stamping on the passport you can travel to you home country and come back on approved AP. 4.1) you can support your spouse also even after using AP (i.e H4 support) Thanks |

There was some proposal of single EAD/AP card, but heard no progress on that. |

Our attorney said one can apply for a renewal even from a different country, the clause that one has to be physically present in US is only for the initial I485 and AP application. I have applied for AP renewal on June 23rd and am traveling next month to India for 2 months will be back before my current AP expires i.e. Oct 10th. My attorney actually asked me to apply for renewal before I leave for India.
