Question change of address & I485

We were planning to move until the dates became current. Will change of address push back our I485 application?

Local moves shouldn't cause any delay, just by itself to the 485 (something like a move within the same city). If the move is to a too far place (lets say, from California to New York), then it is an indication of possible job change. If you have not filed an AC21 change of employment letter after your move, based on how USCIS track this info, you may get an RFE.

By the way, if you can delay your move for a month or something without much difficulty, you might want to consider that, if you are one of those whose priority date just became current (not required though). If you move just make sure to file the change of address properly with USCIS, and with your local post office. The last thing you want is getting your GC lost in mail.

Lightbulb this is not true always ...

You may work for the same employer and relocate to different place as your project change ... this is very much possible in consulting world ... so change in address not always means that you changed job ... for H1B holders this involves new LCA at the new job location ... not sure how USCIS gets updated about it - may be G28 or not change in G28 ....

P.S. my personal view only ...

Default address change

I filed address change 20 days back , no LUD or no Letter from USCIS still , i filed Address change before current bulletin, i am not sure if it will effect 485 ,
But when making address change they will ask for your "current employer" , if you are working for the GC Sponcering employer then that should not be a problem ( i think )

bye
