Default Multiple RFEs - Simultaneously or Consecutively?

Does USCIS issue multiple RFEs on I-485 simultaneously or consecutively? The reason I ask is because both myself and my wife recently got RFEs. Myself because the Doctor forgot to fill in the Tuberculosis details and for my wife about her birth certificate. We have responded to both and the responses are exactly what they requested in the RFE.

Should we now relax and just wait for the PD to be come current and get our GC or is there a possibility of getting more RFEs? When there are multiple issues in an application would USCIS raise all of them simultaneously or wait for the response for the first one before raising the second one? Any one have any experience in this regard?

RFE* > You Respond > Case Resumed > RFE* > You Respond > Case Resumed > ..... Life goes on until the approval.

* Each RFE can contain request for one or more evidence.

My understanding on this is If their is a minor concern then we get RFE and the there are multiple concerns uscis will call for interview for all those clarifications. I have not noticed multiple rfe' - it is not back n forth correspondence. Correct me if I am wrong

My service center is Nebraska.

All of you thanks for your replies. Among my friends, I have not seen multiple RFEs. Do people actually know of multiple RFEs?

When I got my RFE during 140 stage they have requested 3 different things in one RFE letter. I don't know if the same applies for 485 stage.

Kris is correct, Here is the real scenario on my co-workers case who is priority date is not current.

1st RFE Notice - Requested for W2s, Federal Tax Returns, Last six months of pay stubs since his last lawful entry (2005)

2nd RFE Notice - Required an explanation from Employer and Employee why his one of the W2 were less than H1B LCA wage for a specific year and also an evidence the backup the explanatio and additionally all the pay stubs for that year.

In 2005, he took a 10 week vacation due to family emergency that had brought down his total earnings for that year, which is obviously less than LCA wage. Company had sent out a letter stating that he was on unpaid vacation, along with the passport copies (all pages, marked the exit and entry page), copy of the flight ticket, and all the paystubs for year 2005 to prove that he was continously employed. Now, the case is back to pending status.

Hope this helps!

Wandmaker,

Thanks for the reply. It looks like the second RFE was based on the response to the first RFE. My RFEs were straight forward. So I am hoping that there are no more RFEs but with USCIS no one ever knows.

We got RFE on our 485 in September. RFE for me was for TB test clarrification and they asked my wife's status for a certain period. Both these RFEs came together. We replied back and the status changed to "Case Resumed....".There has not been any RFEs later

Even though there is nothing stopping USCIS to issue RFE again, the probability might be less. The chances of them going through the same application several times does not seem practical.

I was a little nervous when they issued an RFE. But after responding back, now i feel better that atleast they looked at my case.

I wish we could find out if our cases are pre-adjudicated.

Default relax....

It usually takes about 5-7 business days to get the actual RFE.
The usual time to respond to rfe's are about 30-45 calendar days
If you had filled in g28 form(Attorney representation), the RFE's will go to your attorney.

Mine took 5 business days to arrive. Both lawyer & myself received copies of RFE. It has a golden paper with Immigration officer # incharge of your case. You need to include this paper on top of your response while mailing back so that the papers reach the officer.

For paystubs BC and other queries they give you 30 days but the catch is the 30 day counter starts from day you receive e-mail so by the time you receive the letter with what is needed you have already lost 5-7 days.
