Dilemna with wife's green card

Question: If husband and wife applied for the I-485 at the same time under husband's application and the husband's green card is approved but the wife's is not - what happens then?

What status can the wife have once her H-1 limit of 6 years is up and doesn't have her own application for green card started?

Everyone will be in AOS till one gets approval on 485.

I am sure you have valid reasons to worry about wife's case non-approval.
If i may suggest, donot you think its too much to worry to worry about case approval or rejection. This situation will be waiting sooner or later.

What you're saying is that there shouldn't be a problem as long as you get your EAD/AP - you are in status till your priority date comes up and then you find out if you get approval or not?

Just wondering...
