Default 2 485 receipt notice for derivative spouse

Hi All,

Just want to share my experience and see if anyone else is in same situation. I filed my I-487 on July 20th for myself and spouse- Nebraska service center.

I got the receipt notices on September 18th.But both 485 receipt notices are for my spouse and one of them has her first name mispelled. I did not get my receipt notice so I'm assuming the one with mispelled name is mine.

The A# on both receipts is different and both of the A#'s are not matching with the A# on the approved I-140. My I-140 got approved after we filed the I-485.

Also her 765(EAD) receipt notice has the same spelling mistake. I called up USCIS and they said they will investigate.

My lawyer said they had seen such mistakes a lot recently.
Did anyone had a similar experience.

Thanks.

USCIS can't make a simple spelling correct and yet, they want to implement a "No Match Rule"; you see a simple difference in spelling can bring your name on the list of mismatch!

That "No match rule" will affect a lot of people with very complicated names even if they are legals or citizens.

Anyway, you have to ask USCIS to correct it because it will cause mismatch against your SSN.

Default name split

Hi Jaya_chh

let me know how did you get rectified your name. I have similar case. My First name has two words which has been split into first and middle name in 485 recipt. Attorney said she is going to call and rectify the same. But donot know if done or not.

will USCIS give new receipts after rectification?

Thanks

Yes, I have called up the USCIS and notified them about the typo error.

My main concern out here is that, I being the primary applicant don't have the I-485 receipt and my wife has two- one correctly spelt and the other with a typo (which I assume should me mine). But can't be sure and am quite apprehensive about the whole issue.

I do hope they rectify the error and match my SSN and get the right receipt.

Thanks for the reply

How does the No Match Rule affect the people with typo errors in their receipt notices?

You can ask your attorney to give you the tracking number of the service request they would have placed with the USCIS.
