I applied for 485 during last years July surge I think on July 19th 2007.
As per these 2 links it shows that 485 processing date is at July 19th 2007. https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/Pro...viceCenter=NSC I am in PITTSBURGH, here too it shows as July 19th https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/off...ectedOffice=55 I have already received EAD etc. Does this mean that my Green card processing is starting now ? Can anyone comment ? Last edited by dilipb; 01-31-2008 at 03:44 PM. Reason: typo |

The day I applied that day the PD was current.
Are you joking that I will get my GC soon. All the last so many months, people have been talking that its going to take about 5-6 years still to get a GC, because there are not much GC VISA numbers available. Also that date is showing as 19 july 2007. does it mean that they have just picked up my application and started processing and will take few months to process since they have to go thru FBI check etc and all other weird processes? Does anyone have any hard data that there are any chances soon for getting GC in hand? |

PD should be current at the date of approval too. If it's current now you can get decision in couple of weeks, if PD is not current - just forget about checking that dates.
It means that majority of applications filed before that date and with current PD and necessary checks completed are with adjudicating officers. |

Dilip,
In all your comments, you said nothing of your PD or EB category or your country of birth for that matter. It is difficult for anyone to quell your anxiety without that information. Check with your (or any) immigration attorney for a more substantial answer. The bottom line is that a visa number should be available when it comes time to adjudicate your case, meaning that your PD should be current at the time the officer picks up your case AND a visa number available for him/her to assign to you (and your dependents, if you have any). Else, the I-485 processing date means nothing, as has been stated by other members earlier. Yes, retrogression sucks! |

Yesterday USCIS announced officially that they need 1300 officers.
Their recruitment, training etc itself is going to take about 4-5 months. So I am now guessing that it surely will take about 4 years for them to fix this big issue of retrogression and also hopefully someone increases the VISA numbers by then. Closing this thread from my perspective since I have some good information. Thanks to all for providing inputs. |
