3rd paragraph:

This policy was issued in consultation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) and is limited to those applications where no Class A or Class B medical condition was certified.

This is a good thing. Seems like they have been extending the validity everytime there is a situation where 485 processing is longer than 1 year. That is probably why i have not heard of anyone getting their medical done every year.

Maybe I am reading too much but it seems from below statement this is a one year extension like every past year and not an indefinite extension!

"...policy will be in in effect until January 1,2010"

For all who submit medicals (without class A or B) before Jan 1, 2010 -- the medicals will be valid until the case is adjudicated.

To oversimplify -- (the medicals will be valid until the case is adjudicated) is the policy and the policy is valid till Jan 1,2010 -- makes sense?

Default Good, and better still...

...it'd be if they extended the validity of fingerprints and background checks, so we don't go into this infinite loop of "no fingerprints, can't approve 485; oops! now no immigrant visa numbers available, can't approve 485; oops again, fingerprints expired, can't approve 485; ah, too late! visa numbers not available, can't approve 485"...GRRRR!

Default the way i read this...

re-medical examinations not required until adjucation - memo expires Jan 2010...

9 months left in 2009.
ppl close to adjucation may get a query for re-examinations.
others may get it in 2010 if this memo validity is not extended...

being more pessimistic ... all will be required to do their medicals again just before adjucation (hopefully not all and it stays how it is today - impacting only some).

Maybe I am completely off but I don't see how this really matters... Not trying to tick anyone off or beng a party pooper but I don't see the big deal here.

I can understand if this memo was to be in place for 5 years or so for sure! All I can hope is for an extension of the memo at the end of the year.

Couple of quick questions would it be the full medical exam or partial. The reason is the vaccinations are for life so there is no point repeating them. Where as TB & HIV can be tested again to make sure applicant has not contacted these since last examination. This clarification will same some money. That exam is painful & expensive.

one does not need to retake vaccinations if one has proof of that they have been taken. The same was the case when you took the medicals the first time - if you had evidence that vaccinations were taken then you did not have to take them again.
