Question regarding applying Canada visa while I-485 pending/AP in hand

Hello,

My husband and I submitted I-485 last year (I am not currently working). He already got the green card and mine is still pending. I've got my Advanced Parole in hand. We plan to visit Canada in May . I'd like to ask someone in similar situation regarding applying a temporary resident Canada visa.

On the column 8 of the 5257 Form "Applicant for a temporary resident visa made outside of Canada", "Immigration status of applicant in country where applying", which optioin should I pick? (Permanent Resident?) What date should I put in the box "valid until"?

When mailing the visa application, which supporting document should I send? Only the AP and I-485 receipt?

Anyone with similar experience could give some advice?? Thanks very much!!!

I was looking for similar info -

Applying for a Canadian tourist visa with AP (no H-1), would this be a problem? Would we get the Canadian visa for only the validity of AP (one yr at most)?

I would be interested in finding out the answers to the original poster's questions as well. It would be very helpful if anyone could share their experience with this.

No problem , you will get the Canadian Visa , while coming back to US , you have to show your AP

No problem, you can apply for Canadian visitor visa: do reveal your current status (AOS) - Canadian immigration will see your ties to the US and they will issue the visa (as per your situation, you are less likely to overstay the visitor visa).

Will the Canadian tourist visa be issued for only a year since AP is valid for only a year?

No, it's the usual 3 (or 6) months.

b) Permanent residet
c) Temporary resident
d)Worker
e) Student(obviously not)

It also asks valid until date(What should I put).I am no longer working on H1B as I am using EAD

Need to travel to canada on Friday(08/13/2010)

Any help is appreciated.

Check Temporary Resident
Provide Date of I-94 validity as valid until date
You can attach a cover letter and mention that you have an application for permanent residency pending (provide copies of I-485 filing receipts, also copies of AP for proof that you can return back to the US)

My I-94 has already expired .So should I put that validity date??

I-94 was for H1B and it is already expired.Working on EAD and didn't travle out of USA so doen't have new I-94.

If you don't have a valid I-94 then you could add your AP expiration date as the validity date
