I have used AP last year at IAH. They will escort you inside the office (rather than clearing you at the immigration counter). They will take your passport and AP will ask you to seat on waiting area chair inside the office. After sometimes, they will stamp on your AP and will return you one copy and passport back and let you go. (I don't remember, but I think they will keep one AP with themselves).
I think the documents you have mentioned are enough. Just in case, you may need to take your some of the latest pay sleep, last year tax return (just for the safety). |

I have travelled thro' Houston via AP atleast 5 times. It takes about 20-30 mins at an average. You might get lucky and get your connection but I doubt it if you have bags to re-check in

Will be cutting it very close, last year it took me 45 mins and then to go to a different terminal after rechecking luggage.. one hour is less

This won't help. I requested officer to speed up since I had to catch connecting flight, he said that it was my fault for not keeping at least 3 hrs gap between the flights. I was there for special registration. I ended up missing the flight and had to do hotel stay at my own expense for the next day available flight.
